Veterinary

Quality compounding and Specialty Rx is capable of providing a multitude of services for animals. We can flavor medication for animals like tuna for cats or beef for dogs. We can make certain medications into “treats.” These treats look, smell and feel like store-bought treats. Flavoring isn’t the only thing we do at Quality Compounding. We can compound a medication that may no longer be on the market. Just because a medication is no longer commercially available doesn’t mean it can’t continue to be beneficial. We can also compound human medications for animal use. We can put that medication in a better suited delivery system for your specific animal. If an owner is looking to save money we can combine multiple medications into one, provided that these medications warrant the same delivery system. (More than one topical medication for instance) At Quality Compounding we specialize in all animals from domestic to zoo!

Bladder Cancer

Mitomycin is an antitumor antibiotic used specifically in the treatment of cancer. Mitomycin is an intravenous (IV) medicine that interferes with the multiplication of cancer cells. The type and extent of a cancer determines the exact dose and schedule for this medicine. To prevent bladder cancer from recurring, mitomycin is given through a urinary catheter directly into the bladder (intravesically) rather than intravenously. Quality compounding and Specialty Rx can prepare mitomycin in our certified clean room ready for use. This can eliminate your need to dilute it and eliminate waste. We deliver the ready-to-use medication right to you!

Urology

Dental

Quality compounding and Specialty Rx is able to assist the patient with many needs including: patients that may be sensitive to pain, nausea or those patients that need a different delivery system for the medication or a special dose. We do various products such as: Antibiotics, Promethazine, Oral Pain Products, Bad Breath and Anti-Viral.

Ophthalmology

Avastin™ (bevacizumab) is being used by retinal specialists (as an off-label use) in the treatment of wet macular degeneration. Wet macular degeneration or wet AMD is a serious, vision-threatening condition. In wet AMD abnormal blood vessels behind the retina start to grow in the area of the retina known as the macula. These blood vessels leak blood and fluid causing damage to the macula and loss of vision. Studies have shown Avastin™ (bevacizumab) to benefit wet macular degeneration patients Quality Compounding and Specialty Rx has pre-filled syringes available for next-day delivery. These pre-filled syringes are prepared in our state of the art clean room. Please call for details.

What is Compounding?

Compounding provides an innovative way for pharmacists to customize medications to fit the needs of their patients. The art of compounding utilizes modern medicine while still holding true to the roots of the profession of pharmacy.

Compounding pharmacies can produce unique dosage forms based on patient preferences and/or restrictions. Examples include dye-free, preservative-free, alcohol-free, and/or sugar-free forms of medications. Many compounds are specialized medication combinations or compounded in other forms that are not otherwise commercially available.

Your pharmacist is trained in compounding a wide variety of ointments, gels, syrups, suspensions, suppositories, capsules and other formulations that can make medications easier to take, address any special health problems, or just simply get you feeling better, faster.

Compounded medications are generally safe and effective for most patients who have talked to their doctor about their health and how a compounded medication can help them.

Medications are compounded and dispensed to patients only upon receipt of a valid patient-specific prescription.

Compounding requires a relationship between the patient, physician, and pharmacist. Together, they will work together to provide an alternative treatment option when and if the currently available treatment options are not the best fit for you.
